GOURDS FROM THE GARDEN
CHRISTMAS IN JULY NEWSLETTER 2005
This month is all about the holiday shows coming up. What sells, what
doesn't, what do people use for display of their gourds. Everyone has
their own experiences and likes. This will be only what I've observed
and learned over the years.  I hope some of you are already thinking
and preparing for the great fall shows.
Do what you can, with what you have,

   WHAT ABOUT ORNAMENTS?
For  me ornaments are one of my best sellers, I work on them on and off most
of the year to prepare for the fall shows. As far as which sells the best, I would
have to say it's the snowmen, there seems to be tons of snowmen collectors out
there, but running a close second would be the Santas.  Gingerbread ornaments
are fun to do, but just don't move out as quickly. Teacher themed ornaments
are always a top seller too. Add an apple or teacher wording and they go well.
I'm always hearing, "that will be great for my child's teacher."

Now what better offer than an
ornament pattern for this issue. I
hope you will try this one out and let
me know what you think. Since
snowmen sell well for me, thought I'd
share a new design with you. It's
called The Quilted Snowman.

DISPLAYING YOUR ART
How you display your work is just as
important as the work itself. If it isn't
welcoming and warm, who would want to
come closer? Here are a few from

I think it's most important to have a
nice skirting around  your tables, just
makes things look so much neater and
makes for good storage.

SNOWMEN, SNOWMEN, & MORE SNOWMEN
Here are a few of the snowmen I've managed to complete recently. Hope it
will inspire you as you prepare for your shows and the holidays. According to a
close source in the retail market of a big department store, snowmen are
still top sellers, even though santa's do sell too.
