WINTER FRIENDS
By: Tammy Brown
I hope you will enjoy painting winter friends, please feel free to
reduce or enlarge for your surface. I'd love to see finished
photo's of what you may use this for. I'm still hoping to improve
my scanning skills.
After two days of working with this pattern and new updates
I can't understand on the web host, this is the best I can do
with the pattern. Please ENLARGE the pattern then print. It
should work fine that way. I'm very sorry and hope to have the
kinks worked out soon

LET'S BEGIN
Transfer the pattern to your surface using the transfer paper and sharp pen.
Begin by painting the trees in the background first using the #6 flat brush
dipped into hauser green dark, hold the brush straight up and make your branches by
stippling one side then the other working your way down and out. You will get bigger as
you go down. Repeat for all trees and let dry. Repeat same process using celery green
leaving some of the darker green showing. Lastly, repeat the process using light
buttermilk. Concentrate on applying the light buttermilk on the tips of the branches.
Be sure to clean your brush between each color.
Now base coat the snowman and the snow with the #4 filbert and light buttermilk. Let
dry and repeat. Using the same brush still with light buttermilk in it dip one corner of
the brush into antique white and water (1:1). Gently shade the snowman and the snow.
Refer to the photo if needed for placement.
Base coat the gingerbread men with honey brown using the #4 filbert, you may need to
use the #2 filbert for the little one. Let dry and repeat. Shade both gingerbread men
with raw sienna and water (1:1) using previous brushes.
Using the liner brush and lamp black paint the eyes on the snowman, both gingerbread
men, the mouths and buttons. Using the liner brush again (cleaned) paint the snowman
nose with burnt orange. Then both gingerbread men noses with heritage brick.
Paint the icing on both gingerbread men with light buttermilk.
With the #2 shader paint one patch on the snowman country red, using the same brush
dip one corner into black plum and water (1:1) then gently shade. Clean the #2 shader
and repeat for the other patch using holly green then shade with hauser green dark and
water (1:1). Add stitching to the patches with liner and light buttermilk. Using the same
brush paint the highlights in each eye, buttons, and gingerbread men noses.
Paint the snowman's ear muff's with country red using the #2 filbert, add lines of
buttermilk randomly with the liner. Wash the liner and paint the black part that
attachs the ear muffs.
Add snow flakes randomly in the background with light buttermilk and the liner brush.
Let all dry then apply varnish with the wash brush, let dry and repeat.
