CANDY CORN TREAT BOWL
BY: TAMMY R BROWN
I can see this quick and easy design painted on many surfaces. The gourd
bowl makes a wonderful fall container, but wouldn't it also look great on
a metal bucket, a basket lid, or even soaps. I hope you enjoy. You may
want to reduce or enlarge to fit your size surface.

LET'S BEGIN
Base the entire piece with lamp black using the 1" wash brush. Allow to dry
completely then transfer the design using the transfer paper. Continue the
pattern around the gourd if your wish.
Base in each candy corn with light buttermilk using the #2 filbert. This will help
your two bottom colors show up on the black background. Let dry and paint top
section a second time. Then using the #2 filbert paint the middle stripe on the
candy with golden straw, let dry. Paint the bottom stripe with burnt orange with
same (cleaned) brush.
Using the 18/0 liner brush paint a highlight stripe down the right side of each
candy. Then using the cleaned damp #2 filbert, dip one side in honey brown and
shade gently down the left side of each candy.
Paint the vines with the #1 round brush by fulling the brush through honey brown
and dark chocolate. Occasionally pick up some buttermilk for highlights here and
there. When the vine is dry, add the leaves using the #2 filbert dip one side of
the brush into celery green the other side into hauser green dark. Keep the
celery green to the top as you paint each leaf. Dip the old scruffy brush into
thinned golden straw (1:1) with water. Then spatter entire piece lightly.
When all is dry use the 1" wash brush to varnish, let dry and repeat.
